Hygiene and Preventive Care

Early detection of disease is the key to successful treatment. During routine cleanings and check ups, we provide thorough examinations of your teeth and all the tissues of your mouth to check for early signs of tooth decay, gum disease, and oral cancer, so we can treat problems as early as possible. Our DIAGNOdent laser cavity detection can find tooth decay earlier than most traditional diagnostic methods. The DIAGNOdent uses a specially designed laser to detect cavities in their earliest forms, which oftentimes can be impossible to diagnosis using other modalities. We also use intraoral cameras, which project on chairside screens, so you can see just what the dentist or hygienist sees during an examination. Included in every preventive care appointment, will be a thorough oral cancer exam. Oral cancer is more common than cervical cancers in women. Early detection is critical in the successful treatment outcome of all disease.

In some cases, we may need to coordinate orthodontic treatment with other restorative approaches. Sometimes simple reshaping of chipped or worn tooth edges can work wonders. One appointment direct composite resin bonded repairs or full veneers can be time and cost effective. Some cases require porcelain laminate veneers or porcelain fused to gold crowns. Non-metallic substrates for front tooth crowns are also showing great promise for complex cases.

Occlusal Therapy

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction hinders quality of life for many sufferers by causing pain in the jaw and neck, interfering with everyday activities such as eating and speaking, and often contributing to headaches. If these issues sound familiar, we can perform a thorough evaluation and develop a treatment approach to relieve your symptoms in most cases. TMJ dysfunction is a condition, not a disease, and we have the experience and training to correct the condition. Occlusal therapy, which corrects bite problems through oral splint use or reshaping of teeth surfaces, has proven effective for many patients.
